EVERYTHING SYNTHETIC IS NATURAL

For the third and final assignment, my group and I decided to go with the theme, "Everything synthetic is still natural." We wanted to prove how plastic, which is commonly associated with synthetic materials, is actually derived from natural materials such as crude oil. We wanted to focus on the ocean and how plastic is affecting marine life and how it is all the actions of mankind that is destroying our beautiful ocean.

For the wearable medium, we decided to go with a tie-dye t-shirt because what else screams the ocean and beach other than a tie dye t-shirt? For the skirt, we wanted to make a tutu out of plastic bags and we specifically chose to use blue plastic bags to represent the colour of the ocean. We also added some seashells to it.

We wanted to raise awareness on how plastic is destroying sealife. Many sea creatures such as turtles, whales and even coral reefs are being put in danger because humans litter plastic bags, bottles, straws and nylon fishing nets which will eventually find its way into the ocean as it gets blown away by the wind. We, humans who have caused this great tragedy, should be the ones who take action to clean up this problem.
